Drs. Gordon Wilmsmeier is Senior Research Fellow at Napier University’s Transport Research Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is an internationally recognized expert in maritime transport and port development issues and prior to his career at TRI he was a consultant to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN-ECLAC), UNCTAD, UN-OHRLLS, The World Bank, The InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB), CAF (Andean Development Fund), the Organisation of American States (OAS) and other international institutions and has collaborated in various EU projects for DG Trade and DGTREN. Further he has worked as Adviser to the Ministry of Economics in El Salvador. He is also member of the Transport Working Group of the German Association of Geographers, the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME), and the Port Performance Network (PPRN).
Gordon has an extensive research expertise in port reform, the effects of port privatisation on international transport costs and port efficiency. His prime research focus is on port development in Latin America.
