Port Research Projects

ENPOS members are involved in several seaport and maritime economics and policy related research projects both at national and international level.
Their research activities cover various topics in the field of port economics, policy and management (e.g. port competitiveness and competition, port productivity, port policy, strategic port planning, traffic forecasting, shipping networks, port clusters), market organization and modal choice in hinterland transportation (intermodal transport, rail, road, barge and pipeline), current issues in airports and the airline industry as well as the integration of transport and logistics. ENPOS members develop and apply a broad array of quantitative techniques and management tools in strategic market analysis, policy formulation and logistics network optimization.
These activities aim to stimulate business growth and to support port policy formulation in the (trans)port industries, locally, regionally, nationally, and supranationally, hence increasing the value extracted from academic research;
Contract projects have been funded/commissioned by (inter)governmental organisations, public bodies, and private entities and involves both contractual advice and/or boardroom consultancy.
