PortEconomics co-director Prof Thanos Pallis was appointed as a Senior Scientific Advisor to the Florence School of Regulation (at the European University Institute).

Thanos will work with an excellent team (under the directorship of Juan Montero) to reinforce the School’s transport area in his field of ports and maritime transport, at a time of great importance and with the European Commission having an extensive list of regulatory initiatives on European Port Strategy, Maritime Industrial Strategy, Cruise tourism and Maritime Transport Competition underway.

The 1st Florence Maritime Regulation Conference, to be held on July 17th 2026, is already under preparation, and the call for papers is already open. Find more info here.

More initiatives on how Thanos will work to shape the European maritime (trans)port agendas to follow.
