A most successful edition of the PortExecutive Seminar (PES) concluded in Naples, receiving excellent evaluations by the 19 participants that joined PES from four different continents.
The first day of PES 2014, members of the PortExecutive team interacted with participating port and port-related professionals discussing the driving forces of change in the port sector, the latest development in shipping, terminal operations, and port authorities strategies.
The second day, the seminar provided an in-depth analysis of cruise ports, port performance and port governance and policies
The PortExecutive Seminar concluded on Friday with a most interesting industry session. Attendees had the chance to meet with representatives from Contship Italia, Grimaldi Group and Naples Association of Ship Agents. Mr. Paul Kyprianou (External relations, Grimaldi), Mr. Andrea Mastellone (President, Naples Association of Ship Agents) and Mr Daniele Testi (Marketing Director, Contship) provided participants a change to learn more by questioning and debating the most significant challenges and the prospects of the port industry.
The venue of PortExecutive Seminar, the magnificent Villa Doria d’Angri, was for two days the centre of discussions on business opportunities, and exchanging of experiences between port authorities, port decision-makers, terminal operators, consultants, insurers and researchers – whereas everybody enjoyed the ’traditional’ PortEconomics dinner that was held at the end of the first day of PES.
Organised by the PortEconomics team, a unique team of leading academic experts and practitioners, the PES provided an opportunity to share extensive experience and contributions in the structuring of the port sector in all five continents.
Contributors in PES 2014 included Peter de Langen, Thanos Pallis, Pierre Cariou, Francesco Parola, and Theo Notteboom.
PortExecutives will soon announce the location of the 5th edition of PES – as well as a number of further initiatives advancing education in port economics, policy and management.
