May 2011: ENPOS member Theo Notteboom will speak at the upcoming 27th IAPH World Port Conference (International Association of Ports and Harbors) which will take place in Busan, South Korea from 23 to 27 May 2011.
Theo’s presentation entitled ‘In search of synergies between seaports and inland ports in Europe’ will focus on the functional relationships between seaports and inland ports in Europe. It will be discussed how the European port system and inland port system developed over time and how competitive forces have reshaped hinterland networks in Europe. The presentation will also provide an overview of the strategies and best practices of port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines and logistics service providers in order to enhance synergy creation between seaports and inland ports. After Kuala Lumpur in 1998 and Montreal in 2001 it is the third time Theo Notteboom will give a presentation at an IAPH World Ports Conference. He also participated previously in IAPH Regional meetings in Sines (2007) and Hamburg (2009).
