The International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) annual conference starts on Wednesday July 3, in Marseille, with the active participation of the entire team of PortEconomics.
This year’s conference on “Managing complexity in shipping and port markets: firms’ business models, co-opetitive games and innovative public-private interactions” covers many areas such as port and shipping economics, logistics, environmental protection, shipping finance and maritime policies. More than 320 abstracts and 276 were submitted, from which 174 full papers were selected and will be presented during the next three days.
The International Association of Maritime Economists was founded in the early 1990s. IAME is an international forum for the exchange of research and information among those interested in maritime and maritime-related issues. The Association currently has a membership that includes over 500 individual members from all continents and more than 20 corporate members.
The IAME Conference is one of the main achievements of the IAME, the international association promoting for the exchange of research and information among those interested in maritime and maritime-related issues. Since its creation in 1992, the conference has been hosted in 17 different countries: Taiwan, Chile, Portugal, Denmark, China, Greece, Australia, Cyprus, Turkey, South Korea, Panama, Hong Kong, Italy, Canada, Belgium, Poland and England. Over the years, the spirit of this conference has remained, a forum for exchange of research and information amongst the members of the Association as well as with the maritime community at large. It is an opportunity to build new relationships and strengthen cooperation with the industry and the research community.
