PortEconomics member Pierre Cariou delivered a presentation (in French) as invited speaker during “Les Journées Neptune”, an international event aimed to provide an overview of multidisciplinary research which was organized by the University of Toulon (France) in April, 9th. Pierre participated in the session “Urban Coast and Mediterranean Sea Areas”, organised by Nicolas Peridy and Gabriel Figueiredo de Oliveira of the Laboratory of Applied Economy for Development (LEAD).
Pierre gave a speech titled “The effectiveness of a European Speed limit versus an international Bunker-Levy to reduce CO2 emissions from container shipping” which compares how these two instruments could be used to curve emissions from international shipping and which shows, using a model applied to two routes, that these policies are far from being equivalent.
